Prayer of Protection
Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me and fight against those who fight against me. Take up shield and buckler and come to my aid.
Brandish spear and javelin and close up the way of those who pursue me,
and say to my soul, "The Lord is your salvation; whom shall you fear? The
Lord is the light of your life; of whom shall you be afraid?" May those who
seek my life be disgraced and put to shame. May those who plot my ruin
be turned back in dismay. May they be like chaff before the wind with the
angel of the Lord driving them away. May their paths be dark and
slippery with the angel of the Lord pursuing them. Let them fall into their
own pits and be caught in their own traps. Let ruin overtake them by
surprise.
Because of the Blood of Jesus and because I walk by faith, I am the spiritual
seed of Abraham. Your Word says that those who bless me will be blessed
and that those who curse me will be cursed; that if anyone draws the
sword and bends the bow to bring me down, his sword will pierce his own
heart and his bow will be broken; that all those who rise up against me will
fall. If you be for me, God, who can be against me? No one can reverse
your blessing.
You have declared that no weapon formed against me will prosper and
that every tongue that rises against me in judgment will be found to be in
the wrong. It is my spiritual heritage, my vindication from you. I lay hold
of it now by faith. Fear has no place in me. I stand in your power and in
your love and take upon me the mind of Christ, walking gently through
the fields, leaving the tares to you. For I wrestle not against flesh and
blood but against principalities and powers in high places. I humble
myself under your mighty hand and commit my way to you knowing that
you will cause my righteousness to shine like the dawn and the justice of
my cause like the noonday sun.
In Jesus' Name, Amen.
